Payment method :

1. Cash

The buyer completes the payment and pays the seller in full before the merchandise is delivered and shipped off to the buyer.

2. Letters of Credit (L/C)

Letters of Credit (L/C) is one of the most secure international payment methods for the importer and exporter as it involves the assistance of established financial institutions such as banks as an intermediary and a certain level of commitment from both parties.

With a Letter of Credit, payment is made through both the buyer and sellers’ banks. Upon confirmation of trade terms and conditions, the buyer instructs his bank to pay the agreed-upon sum by both parties to the seller’s bank. The buyer’s bank then sends a Letter of Credit as proof of sufficient and legit funds to the seller’s bank. Payment is only remitted after all stated conditions are met by both parties and shipment has been shipped.

Letters of Credit are also sometimes known as LC, bankers commercial credit or documentary credit.

3. Telegraphic transfer(T/T)

FOB shipping method

FOB(Free on Board)

FOB is an abbreviation of ‘Free On Board’, and is a port-to-door shipment. This means that when you trade on FOB terms, your supplier(Seller - Sumac.vn) is responsible for all local charges, which include transport to the port, handling of the cargo, and customs clearance at origin. This also means that you(Buyer) have to find a freight forwarder to take over your shipment and carry out the freight when your goods board the ship (or aircraft) for the your warehouse(buyer warehouse). As soon as your goods are aboard the ship or airplane, the transport responsibility and cost shifts from your supplier(Seller - Sumac.vn) to you(Buyer) as importer.

As mentioned, you(Buyer) are responsible for finding a forwarder to carry out the transportation of your goods, but all local charges in the origin country will be billed directly to your supplier/manufacturer(Seller - Sumac.vn). Your supplier(Seller - Sumac.vn) might try to influence your forwarder choice in order to lower local costs, but keep in mind that the decision is yours alone(Buyer). When buying your products on FOB terms your supplier(Seller - Sumac.vn) will include the local charges (sometimes + a buffer) to your cost, so they do not risk losing money.
